“CHANGE”

11/1/20

We put out our call for the “Change” issue over a month ago, and had some expectations for the kinds of pieces we would receive, specifically submissions embracing Autumn and the beauty of changing seasons. We saw this covered in work like Jackie Hanson’s painted diptych, as well as in several photography submissions such as Kayla Padilla’s photos featuring Manchester itself.

There were, however, many interpretations of the prompt outside of autumnal imagery that surprised and moved us. We saw commentary on social and political issues in the art of Kylie Cropper and Allison Rose. We saw pieces that resulted from change in the artistic process, such as Anna Schölch’s paintings. We even saw consideration of how change is a crucial part of artistic creation, specifically with the process of firing ceramics, in the work of faculty member Chris Archer.

We continue to be impressed by the talent and ambition of our creative community, and are proud to present their art to you. If you enjoy the work you see here, please consider sharing the issue and submitting to future installments.
